Kathy Oxborrow
Helping individuals and groups problem solve and maximize their ability to accomplish their goals is what has consistently motivated Kathy Oxborrow—whether it’s helping a business or organization be more nimble through effective planning, producing a television program that increases understanding of a complex issue or providing training to enhance employee skills.
Kathy began her career working for a San Francisco political consulting firm. When she did not vote for the candidate she was paid to promote, she decided it was time to leave the business. Moving to Oregon, she used her political skills to initiate and organize allied groups in four northwestern states to successfully seek $118 million from the Bonneville Power Administration for an energy conservation program.
As a television producer, she worked for both the NBC and ABC affiliates in Portland, Oregon producing public affairs programs. Several of her programs were nominated for national awards.
Through her affiliation with Portland Community College she provided training to Oregon businesses including Epson, Precision Interconnect and Rexam Graphics.
Kathy has been a freelance writer for several Oregon newspapers and currently writes for The Bulletin in Bend, Oregon. A curious woman, she delights in interviewing individuals whether it’s for a newspaper article or client research.
At San Francisco State University she earned a B.A. Degree, Cum Laude, in Urban Studies and did graduate work in Broadcast Communication Arts.
Kathy’s continuing education includes training in Meeting Facilitation and Group Process at Willamette University’s Center for Dispute Resolution and a 32-hour basic mediation course that meets Oregon statutory requirements for community mediation. She has also taken courses in designing and delivering training programs.
Community service is important to Kathy and she has served on the boards of many organizations, including the City Club of Portland and Planned Parenthood of the Columbia Willamette. As a volunteer, she mediated restitution agreements between juvenile offenders and their victims.
She recently completed a leadership development program sponsored by The Ford Family Foundation. Currently, she is a facilitator for Opportunity Knocks, a Central Oregon nonprofit organization whose mission is to build thriving businesses and individuals.
Kathy lives in the country outside Bend, Oregon and enjoys riding her horse, Sara.
